This is the point in time that I think we are all just fed up with politicians and elections. It can’t be over soon enough! But it did get me wondering about the gospel reading* prescribed for this first Sunday in November, celebrated as “All Saints Day.” Jesus gave a powerful sermon we often refer to as “The Sermon on the Mount.” How might his teachings shape the way we think about the issues facing us today? *The Revised Common Lectionary gospel reading for this Sunday is Matthew 5:1-12
