Waiting on God When You Want to Act

Be still in the presence of the Lord,
and wait patiently for him to act.
Don’t worry about evil people who prosper
or fret about their wicked schemes. Psalm 37:7 (NLT)

The following comes from a blog post I read today entitled “Finding Peace When Everything Feels Out of Control” by author Gretchen Rodriguez.

It not only speaks to me personally in this new chapter of my life, but also to the sense of helplessness many of us may be feeling amid all that is happening in the world.

“In God’s Kingdom, wisdom is sitting at his feet and waiting for his instructions when you’d rather run and make something happen. So, if you’ve been pressuring yourself to figure things out more than you’ve been waiting on and trusting in God, do yourself a favor and stop. You don’t need a backup plan. Jesus is the Good Shepherd who will lead you once you stop trying to lead yourself. You are not irresponsible just because you aren’t scrambling to figure everything out!

As our relationship with him deepens, our lives transform. Continually encountering God sets us free. This is the power of God’s love.”
